Statement

I am initially reluctant to talk about my work or myself, however I am informed that by doing so people may get more from the work I produce.  The work on this website is a selection of scribblings, doodling's and daubs produced over the last five years. I have periods of intensity and these sometimes coincide with periods of free time when I can produce work.  As such I sometimes feel my work as a whole can look a little disjointed.  I find inspiration from anything and everything, overheard conversations, found images , photographs, objects and frequently writing and literature. Several people have influenced me from the profound to the sublime and occasionally the ridiculous.  Current areas of interest are the landscape as well as emotions anxieties and disturbances.  If I had my way I wouldn't put any titles on my work, I would rather that the viewer did a bit of work, friends have told me that they don't think like me so give us a clue, and that's as much as I do. We walk slowly through the world and all of us see it differently, the paintings and drawings on this site are my own slow walk though life, don't feel that artists can tell you what to think, make up your own mind.  If I had to say what makes me do it, it would probably be a mixture of vocation, profession and not a little of moody angst. I haven't  yet  started on discovering anything profound in what I do, therefore I don't ask you to , rather I hope that something may make you linger and make you consider your own slow walk through life.

Current Work July 2007

I am currently working on a range of smaller charcoal drawings to compliment the large scale work, the subject of the current work is focussed on the kiss, on emotions, on interpretation, I have also begun some oils related to this and other mixed message ideas.
